With every choice we have a chance to avoid plastic mistakes.

This is our action towards zero waste mindedness. This is our action towards protecting sensitive animals and habitats from the plastic disaster.

In addition to encouraging personal efforts to reduce plastic consumption our crews accomplish extensive cleanups.

We remove an average of 10,000 kilos of plastic debris from rivers, wetlands, and beaches every year. Our cleanup efforts are extremely thorough with focus on removing even the most damaging micro-plastics.

SAY HELLO TO THE ECO-BRICK

This year we made great strides to get ahead of the need for beach cleanups and contain plastic debris before the seasonal rains flooded the rivers and washed the contamination to sea.

We achieved this by stimulating massive riverbed cleanups in 4 Nicaraguan towns with a plan to gently financially incentivize the creation of “eco-bricks” that we could collect.

Eco-bricks are plastic bottles stuffed as full as you can possibly get them with plastic garbage. If the bottle are filled enough the eco-bricks became usable in construction projects. This project stimulated the creation of roughly 17,000 eco-bricks. We have also found construction projects that will use them.

Each bottle can hold a large size trash bag’s worth of plastic bags and wrappers so this initiative pulled a lot of plastic mess out of the loop!

With you support this campaign will continue on a larger scale this year before the seasonal rains fill the rivers. Together we can save a lot of animals, birds, and habitats!
